FAQ
Frequently asked questions we get from retailers about our product enrichment platform
Does it make things up?
No. Every fact in your copy comes with its source and a confidence score. ALYA searches manufacturer pages, supplier sites and the web, confirms each fact against its sources and flags inconsistencies to your team in the review screen. 92% of descriptions are approved on the first pass, and the remaining 8% are small edits of three to five minutes.
Why not just use ChatGPT?
At catalogue scale, brand voice drifts, specs get invented, other languages stop matching English and field lengths get ignored. You still review every output with no sources and no confidence score, and nothing connects back to your site. ALYA does the research, keeps every language consistent, gives your team a review screen and pushes approved products back to your store.
Will it sound like us?
Yes. ALYA learns from the products you've already enriched and from your brand voice profile: words to avoid, preferred wording, tone. Every edit your team makes is kept as a memory and used to improve your next products.
Do we approve first?
Yes. We don't publish without your consent. Your team reviews each product with its sources, flags and three versions (default, factual and sales-oriented) and approves before anything goes live.
Is our data used to train other customers?
No. We only do one shot and examples from your own catalogue, so we don't train other customers.
Where is our data hosted?
Your data is secured on Google Cloud, in the North America region, precisely in Montreal.
Are you insured?
Yes. Index, the company behind ALYA, carries professional liability (E&O) insurance up to CAD 5 million and cyber coverage up to CAD 2 million.
Which platforms do you work with?
Most retailers send a spreadsheet. Our Shopify connector imports your products and pushes them back once approved. Many clients run on Magento, others on in-house systems: we make available custom integrations for any platform.
Which languages?
Any language. Every language stays consistent with the others, field by field.
How fast is it?
Your first products come back in under an hour. The pipeline runs in the cloud and can process up to 5,000 products per hour, but speed is not the point: the acceptance rate is.
Which fields can you enrich?
Any field: titles, descriptions, fact sheets, categories based on your site architecture, your taxonomy and Shopify's, filters, synonyms, SEO meta, FAQs, reviews, recommended products, images, and technical fields like specs, feature bullets, Google Shopping titles, variant names and compatibility. At the product level or the variant level.
Can it build filters for our site search?
Yes, per category level, from parent category down: colour and wattage for lighting, wattage for power tools. One retailer needed filters on 50,000 products for its new site search. Estimated at 8,000 hours by hand, it was done in two weeks with three people, about 98% approved.
Can it fix our product images?
Yes. Small or blurry photos are upscaled and recropped to 2048 by 2048, Shopify's preferred size. We can generate images, find more photos of the product, and read packaging and ingredients to pull data. Ready for Google's 2027 image rules, at the recommended 1500 by 1500.
Can we start small?
Yes. Start with the free catalogue survey, then enrich a first batch before you roll out the whole catalogue.
How much does it cost?
Prices start at $1,000 USD per year, with $5 per product. An onboarding fee applies when you need a custom integration or want existing products pre-enriched. Bring your own keys to lower your costs even more; the licence fee changes when you do.
Can we edit after publishing?
Yes, anytime. Every edit your team makes teaches the tool, so your next products need fewer.
Can we cancel?
Use it. Not happy? Get your money back. Monthly plans: we refund the month. Annual plans: full refund in the first 30 days.
